Organ Demonstration at the Kimmel Center

February 18

Enjoy a demonstration on the Fred J. Cooper Memorial Organ as part of a free tour of the Kimmel Center. The hour-long tour begins with a live 15-minute organ recital that showcases the instrument’s dynamic and dramatic range of sounds. Such a priceless performance, unparalleled in its breadth and impressiveness, is not offered for free at any other time anywhere else in the city.

The Fred J. Cooper Memorial Organ is the largest mechanical-action concert hall organ in the United States. It possesses nearly 7,000 pipes, four blowers, 111 stops, and pipes up to 32-feet tall. It ranks as the 47th largest organ in the world, with the Wanamaker Organ across town claiming the prize for largest fully functional pipe organ in the world.
