One of Philly’s favorite new traditions is fastly approaching. The 2nd Street Festival is an example of Philadelphia’s greatest annual collections of music and food. Northern Liberties is a Philadelphia community that puts on the festival in an effort to open eyes to the neighborhood and everything they have to offer. The 2nd Street Festival showcases Northern Liberties as a safe and cleaned up area of the city.
There will be a wealth of enjoyable activities and treats at this year’s gathering. Closing off multiple streets, 2nd Street Festival will offer attendees a variety of vendors with merchandise, art, workshops, tasty food, beer gardens and more!
This year’s festival will include performances by a plethora of interesting and fun acts. Local band the Downtown Shimmy will be playing some fun tunes inspired by Ray Charles along with influences from folk, soul, gospel, blues, R&B and funk. Capturing local soul and an eclectic collection of inspiration, this show promises to have everybody in the street grooving. The Quixote Project is another local band from nearby New Jersey. Covering sounds that range from soul and bluegrass to rockabilly, this dynamic band will be a great addition to the 2nd Street Festival in Philadelphia this year.
In addition to this year’s exciting musical acts, the festival will also host a long list of vendors selling everything from jewelry to clothes to food.
On Sunday, August 3rd this year, anybody who finds themselves in Philadelphia should take to the streets to enjoy this sixth installment of this wonderful festival. Take part with locals and visitors alike as all of the most enjoyable organizations from Philadelphia will be present and available for a great time. With all there is to consume in addition with the late-summer sun, this promises to be one of the most joyous and fun-filled days of the year.
