Just a scenic hour drive from Philadelphia; discover Autumn Colors at Longwood Gardens a spacious 1,077 acre botanical garden located outside of Philadelphia. From September 6 until November 23, Longwood Gardens presents Autumn Colors a fall showcase of the fall foliage on display until November 23.
Longwood Gardens spans nearly 1,077 acres and has over 20 different gardens and over 5,500 kinds of plants in total! But there’s so much to do there other than just sit and observe the gorgeous surroundings. They offer concerts, nature workshops in addition to daily tours. Longwood Garden offers kid-friendly activities the entire family will enjoy including the Garden Railway (a custom model train that travels along tunnels and bridges throughout the gardens) and the Pumpkin Playground (don’t miss the 800 lb pumpkin which is perfect for pumpkin photo ops) .
From October 25-November 23 don’t miss the Chrysanthemum Festival where over 20,000 chrysanthemums in bloom are artfully crafted into a vast array of torches, designs, spirals and more.
In addition to the gorgeous display of nature there are a variety of concerts which take place throughout the year. This fall ticketed performances include Steven Schreiber (lead organist at Trinity Church) on October 5 at 1 pm, the Dublin Guitar Quartet at October 21 at 8 p.m. and on October 30 the Cyrus Chestnut Trio. There are even dining events at Longwood Gardens! On August 23 don’t miss An Italian Love Affair with Wine Expert Hudson Austin; a fun opportunity to enjoy delightful Italian wine in the picturesque Longwood Gardens setting. On October 3 enjoy the Meadow Harvest Dinner, which embraces fall tastes including local cheeses from Shellbark Hollow Farms.
