From October 18-19 and 25-26 don’t miss Boo at the Zoo, the Philadelphia Zoo’s annual Halloween event that is great for the entire family. Grab your Halloween costume and enjoy trick or treating, Halloween games and live music. There is even a Scarecrow Scavenger hunt that takes participants through many of the zoo’s signature exhibitions. Boo at the Zoo takes place both weekends from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
While you are there, you should be sure to observe one of the most unique aspects of the Philadelphia Zoo, the Zoo 360 Animal Exploration Trails. The Zoo 360 experience is comprised of three separate trails: the Treetop Trail, the Great Ape Trail and Big Cat Crossing.
Keep a look out for a variety of different kinds of primates from above in the Treetop Trail, including the Capped mangabey, the Black and White Colobus monkey, the White-faced Saki and Blue eyed lemurs!
The Great Ape Trail is elevated 16 feet off of the ground and is 925 feet in length. Sumatran orangutans freely roam. Big Cat Crossing is a 330 foot elevated trail where you’ll find, Amur tigers, African Lions, Jaguars, Pumas and Snow Leopards.
One of the easiest ways to get to the Philadelphia Zoo is via Phlash! It goes to all of the historic attractions and cultural institutions. Phlash operates Friday-Sunday only from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. The cost is $5 for an all-day pass or $2 for a single ride. Seniors and children four years old or younger ride free.
The Philadelphia Zoo is one of the top zoos in the country and is a must-see attraction while in Philly.
