Design Philadelphia kicks off October 9-17 and is a celebration of Philadelphia’s creative economy. Universities, cultural institutions and retailers all participate in over 120 exciting events around Philly.
This year Design Philadelphia is bigger than ever as they celebrate the 10th anniversary of the festival. Events kick off on October 8 with a benefit and cocktail party in Fishtown. Don’t miss the silent auction where 20 of Philadelphia rising design stars transformed a simple Ikea mirror into stunning pieces, all items are available for bidding.
Design Philadelphia also hosts educational workshops- those looking to brush up on their Adobe skills can head back to school with the Adobe Muse workshop at the Center for Architecture on Saturday October 11 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.
Show your support for Philly’s rising design stars at the exhibition showcase of AIA Philadelphia’s Awards for Design Excellence at the Shops at Liberty place. Works will be in display from October 9 until October 17.

Learn the inside story of the Franklin Institute’s newest exhibit Brain Power! From 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. learn the story and inspiration behind the exhibit from Director of Design Jeanne Maier. Fans of Photography will like Day Job: Gallery Talk with Curator at the Print Center from 6:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday October 14. The Print Center’s curator John Caperton will lead a tour of the exhibition of contemporary photography. Interested in a career in Interior Design? Don’t miss Definition a Profession: Interior Design in Philadelphia a talk hosted by Moore College of Art and Design’s Jim Miller from 6:30 pm until 8:00 p.m.
