The Scottish indie rock band Franz Ferdinand will bring their signature post punk sound to Philadelphia this spring. The group (named after the Austro-Hungarian Archduke whose murder sparked World War I) was formed in Glasgow in 2002 by lead vocalist Alex Kapranos, guitarist Nick McCarthy, bassist Bob Hardy, and drummer Paul Thomson. Since that start, the band has released five studio albums, two live albums, a video album, and twenty-two music videos. Their extensive list of awards includes a Mercury Prize, two Brit Awards, and two Meteor Music Awards, as well as four Grammy nominations. The band’s first two singles, “Darts of Pleasure” and “Take Me Out,” peaked within the top 50 on the UK Singles Chart. Don’t miss this chance to see the group whose mix of rock, dance music, and dub helped to define the music of the 2000s.
