Les Misérables at the Academy of Music

January 9 - January 21

Nominated for three Tony Awards, the latest production and national tour of Victor Hugo’s timeless tale of love and revolution will burst into Philadelphia this winter. One of the most popular musicals ever created, Les Misérables was first brought to the stage in Paris in 1980, and its epic story and soaring score have dazzled audiences since. Claude-Michel Schӧnberg’s and Alain Boublil’s music paints the image of a simmering rebellion two years after the Revolution of 1930 in France. Timeless songs like “I Dreamed a Dream” and “Do You Hear the People Sing” accompany the joys and tragedies of classic characters like Jean Valjean, Fantine, and Cosette. Don’t miss this enduring, monumental play, brought to life once again by Cameron Mackintosh. For information on other upcoming plays in Philadelphia, check out the guide on our blog.
