The Philadelphia Marathon is one of the nation’s premier and most historic marathons. Crossing the heart of Philadelphia, the race covers mostly flat and fast terrain. Over 30,000 runners will come to town to partake in the event.
The route begins and ends on Benjamin Franklin Parkway. The course runs through the charming streets of Old City on Penn’s Landing by the Delaware River, eventually coming up to the green pathways of the Fairmount Water Works on the Schuylkill River. On their way, runners take in iconic landmarks like Independence Hall, the Betsy Ross House, and the Liberty Bell. The Health and Fitness Expo at the Pennsylvania Convention Center (where race participants will pick up their race packets) is free, open to the public and features merchandise and products focused on running, fitness, and nutrition.
