This Valentine’s Day, enjoy a spectacular selection of music inspired by William Shakespeare. The Philadelphia Shakespeare Theatre and the Philadelphia Orchestra, led by guest conductor Stéphane Denève, will offer some of the most romantic music from the iconic writer’s many productions. These will include: As You Like It, from William Walton’s film score; Hector Berlioz’s interpretation of the lovers’ quarrel in Much Ado About Nothing; Tchaikovsky’s musical imagery of the tragic Romeo and Juliet; and Mendelssohn’s joyful score from A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Actors will move across the Forest of Arden, Messina, and other sets as the orchestra creates a musical landscape. Bring a date, bring a friend, and enjoy an evening of heartfelt sounds on Valentine’s Day.
