A new production of The Sound of Music will take stage in Philadelphia this spring. The beloved story of Maria and the von Trapp family will come alive, and the Tony, Grammy, and Academy Award winning Best Score will delight audiences once again. Timeless classics like “My Favorite Things,” “Do-Re-Mi,” and “Climb Ev’ry Mountain” and other favorites by Rodgers and Hammerstein will ring out in the Merriam Theater.
The Sound of Music first came to the stage in 1959, and rocketed to pop culture fame with the 1965 American film adaptation starring Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer. The film is the most successful movie musical in history, and was re-imagined as a live television production in 2013.
