The Penn Relay Carnival is the world’s oldest and largest annual track and field relay meet. It has been hosted by the University of Pennsylvania since April 21, 1895, bringing the event into its 123rd year. Every year the historic relay draws up to 100,000 people to Franklin Field, and crowds can watch some of the world’s top track athletes compete. Events like the 4×400 meters relay, javelin, pole vault, and sprints highlight the three-day festival.
An accompanying festival on the streets surrounding the stadium offers fun beyond the athletic events. Vendor Village offer food and drinks, some of which are inspired by the participating countries, as well as crafts, souvenirs, and athletic merchandise.
Don’t miss this opportunity to see some of the best young track and field athletes from around the world and partake in this long-standing Philadelphia tradition.
