Waitress’ 2015 Broadway debut was met with acclaim from both audiences and critics. The musical, which tells the story of an unhappy diner waitress named Jenn who has the chance to leave her small town life behind, began its first national tour in 2017. Based on the 2007 indie movie, pie chef Jenna’s dreams and foils are told through the lens of Grammy-nominated Sara Bareilles’ catch score. The groundbreaking play was also the first in Broadway musical history to feature women in four major creative roles (book, score, choreography, and direction). Don’t miss this slice of theater magic when it stops in Philadelphia.
