Experience three days of rockin’ music during the 20th annual XPoNential Music Festival on the Camden Riverfront.
Produced by WXPN (a non-commercial, public radio station operated by the University of Pennsylvania) the 3-day musical performances by both local and national artists take place on two stages. This year’s festival includes major acts like Beck, Ryan Adams, Band of Horses, and more. The festival is held at 2 locations–the Susquehanna Bank Center and Wiggins Park, Attendees are welcome to bring a blanket and small chairs along with small coolers for food and non-alcoholic beverages. A variety of vendors and beer will also be available on site. Insider Tip: Interested in checking out all 3 days of concert fun? The 3 Day Go everywhere pass starts at $60 (XPN member price) and allows you access to Wiggins Park and Lawn access. To get to the Susquehanna Bank Center from The Independent we recommend taking the PATCO (located at 12th and Locust) towards Lindenwold. Exit at the Broadway stop, then head west on Dr. Martin Luther King Blvd. towards S. 5th Street for 0.4 miles. Turn left on South Front Street and continue onto Harbor Blvd. and the center is directly in front of you.
With adequate prep time you can pick up a fantastic array of picnic basket treats. Below is a list of our favorite local spots that will have you (and your fellow concertgoers) very glad you thought ahead:
101 S 13th St, Philadelphia, PA
Owned by local restaurateurs Valerie Saffron and Chef Marcie Turner-these ladies know food. We like the hot food section which features fare from neighboring Lolita.
Garces Trading Company
1111 Locust St
One word-charcuterie. They do it so well and it’s perfect for sharing with friends. The wine selection here is also vast.
Di Bruno Brothers
834 Chestnut St
1730 Chestnut St
930 S 9th St
With 3 locations to choose from this backbone of gourmet groceries in Philadelphia does not disappoint when it comes to the perfect picnic food selection. Artisanal bread, sparkling fruit soda, premade sandwiches, tartes…we can go on and on.
