Feeling at home in an unfamiliar place can be difficult when you don’t know where to go. Philadelphians are fairly relaxed, but we’re still a classic east coast city – bustling, busy and always rushing to the next place. Don’t be the disoriented tourist in the way of the local commute. Avoid getting lost by checking out our tips on how to get around.
Guests are welcome to park in our loading zone directly in front of the hotel during check-in and check-out. We don’t have overnight parking at the hotel, but we can recommend nearby self-park options. LAZ Garage, monitored by 24-hour surveillance, is located just half a block from the hotel. Guests will be charged each time they leave the garage.
Please note that the hotel is not responsible for theft or damage to your vehicle.
Philadelphia’s transit system SEPTA is one of the most comprehensive bus/subway/commuter-rail networks in the nation.
If you are coming from the airport, SEPTA’s Regional Rail Airport Line will take you to Center City in under 25 minutes.
The subway is split into two lines – Broad Street and Market-Frankford. Both have stops located near The Independent Hotel. Take the Market-Frankford line from 13th Street to connect to popular neighborhoods like Old City, Fishtown, and University City. Take the Broad Street line from Walnut-Locust to catch a game at the South Philadelphia Sports Complex or visit one of the many cultural attractions along the Avenue of the Arts.
There are even more routes available via SEPTA buses, trains and trolleys. Visit septa.org for all routes and schedules.
TAXIS AND RIDESHARES
If you need a ride, you can hail a cab the old-fashioned way or request one through your phone with Uber or Lyft. We’re happy to assist you with ordering transportation from the hotel.
