The restaurant Milkboy is a Center City destination where food, tunes and drinks are at a premium. Behind the project are Milkboy Recording Studio’s Tommy Joyner and Jamie Lokoff, who’ve produced records for the likes of Justin Timberlake, Kanye West, Dave Matthews Band and Usher, along with local talents such as The Roots, Dr. Dog and Philly’s Most Wanted.
Sounds from the studio and elsewhere stream throughout the restaurant and bar, while live acts rotate through the upstairs music venue. On the smaller side, this is one of the best local spots to catch Philadelphia bands and traveling performers from around the country. Every seat in the house is great at Milkboy.
Those who choose to skip dancing can easily kick back with a bite to eat and a cocktail. For food, we love the sloppy joes and burgers or the housemade hummus. Milkboy also has an impressive list of cocktails, beers and shandies. We like the Lake Michigan—which combines bourbon, Miller High Life and lemon—and the Beefeater, cordial and cucumber water combo, properly dubbed London Calling.
Grab one of these exciting cocktails (or a $5 shot), a sandwich, and a show all at this renowned haven of Philadelphia culture. To learn more about who’s coming to play at Milkboy, what other treats and drinks are on their menu and more, check out the venue website here.
